VBT's Institute of Social Science
The Faculty of Social Science has been established in 2014 and has been consistently upgrading its curriculum to make it more responsive to the social challenges in India. It is a two years full time post graduate degree programme. The total intake for MSW course is 60 students. It aims to build commitment and competency in facilitating participatory change and transformation in society at the level of individuals, groups and communities; in government and non-government organisations (NGOs); and in law and policy. The Master degree programme equips trainees to work as agents of change from grassroots to policy levels. The institute is continuously striving to provide service to society and impart training to aspiring professionals and a variety of functionaries working with people. Social Work as a profession is being increasingly recognised as a core profession in the process of human and social development. The scope of the human and social services continues to be in keeping with the functions of the Modern Welfare State. A demand for trained social workers in various fields is continuously on the increase and newer avenues are being opened where human help is needed for dealing with difficult human situations. The training programme therefore emphasises development of efficient and competent professionals.
Medium of Instruction:
As per the guidelines of the University, the medium of instruction for MSW Programme is English. However students are allowed to write their examination in regional language also.
Field Work Components:
Semester- I: Orientation Visits - Skill workshop - Concurrent Field Work - Seminar/Presentation.
Semester- II: Advance Orientation Visits. - Concurrent Field Work. - Rural Camp/study tour. - Seminar/ Presentation.
Semester- III: Concurrent Field Work - Specialization wise Workshops/ Seminar/ Presentation/ field based tasks.
Semester- IV: Concurrent Field Work - Study Tour - Seminar/ Presentation.
Master of Social Works
M. Phil. in Social Work - 1 Yr.
Ph.D. in Social Work - Minimum 3 Yrs.
Duration of the Programme:
The duration of the Master Degree Programme is two academic years. The Programme duration is divided into four Semesters.
